The sugar manufacturing process creates a fiber by-product called bagasse. In order to turn this by-product into a saleable product, Allnorth was retained by a confidential client to design a bagasse pulping and molding facility to produce food-grade plates. Allnorth’s engineering scope included process design, mechanical design, electrical design and overall plant automation for the following areas: Bagasse Handling, Bagasse Pulping, Molding, Packaging and Plant Utilities.
All design work was done in a 3D model environment with frequent model reviews and design reviews held remotely via web conference with the owner and major equipment suppliers across North America. This resulted in a high level of coordination between the various project participants.
